I started with the Water Resources Department in June of 2008. Up to that point, I really had no idea where water came from or where it went after I used it. Therefore, I spent the first month shadowing each division.
The department is made up of the following divisions: Administration, Water Resources Planning, Wetlands, Water Production, Water Distribution, Wastewater Collections, Water Reclamation Facility, GIS, and Information Technology.
It really made a difference to go out in the field and see for myself how each division operates. Plus, I got to know most of the staff members. I figured this would help build rapport and establish a relationship with each division.
